Welcome to Historic Oyster Bay!

Sagamore Hill

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site
Visit and see Sagamore Hill as it was when U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt lived there. The house is open for guided tours from Wed – Sun, 10:00am – 4:00pm. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 15 and under. A Visitor Center and Book Store, and small exhibition on Roosevelt are also available to view free of charge. The grounds are open daily from dawn to dusk.

 

The Main Street Association has been at the forefront of assuring that the Oyster Bay Hamlet has the vision and plan that it needs to move forward. We have commissioned several studies, some of which are available to view in their completeness here.

Theodore Roosevelt Museum Site Location
Two days of community meetings in March 2008 culminated in a Town Meeting and a professional report prepared by Dan Burden and architect Edward Erfurt.

Eastern Waterfront Community Vision & Revitalization Plan
This plan provide guidance for short term goals, intermediate goals, and long term goals for an area in Oyster Bay north of Shore Ave, Audrey Avenue, and East Main Street. Parking lot, public space improvements, park improvements, and large-scale development projects are proposed.

Oyster Bay Hamlet Plan, March 2002
Prepared for the Oyster Bay Town Board by Frederick P. Clark Associates, Inc. and the Hamlet Plan Steering Committee that included Main Street and other partners.

A Downtown Market Assessment and Strategy for Oyster Bay Hamlet
This report, prepared in July 2001 by Abeles Phillips Preiss & Shapiro, Planning & Real Estate Consultants, analyzed the existing market conditions and provided recommendations for how to enhance business in the hamlet.
