Greetings from Oyster Bay!

Back in 1999 a group of concerned residents got together to discuss the future of Oyster Bay and how to preserve and revitalize this very special place. A year later, the Oyster Bay Main Street Association was established as a non-profit which adopted the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Approach ® for economic development.

During the past ten years the Oyster Bay Main Street Association has been instrumental in the revitalization of downtown Oyster Bay. This very special place has a long and prosperous history which dates back to 1653 and of course was home to our beloved President Theodore Roosevelt. Our Board of Directors consists of many individuals who have a deep appreciation of Oyster Bay and its history. We are all volunteers and strive to continue to make Oyster Bay an inviting and aesthetically pleasing downtown that is welcoming to both visitors and residents alike.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome you to browse our website and learn more about who we are and our many accomplishments. I encourage you to take a stroll in our quaint and historic village and see for yourself how truly special Oyster Bay actually is. The village is only a short 30 miles from New York City and is the ideal place to relax and have some fun!

As President Roosevelt said to the good people of Oyster Bay on July 4, 1906, “The way to be good citizens of this nation is to be good citizens of Oyster Bay.”
